EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that helps people process and recover from distressing or traumatic experiences. EMDR supports the brain's natural ability to heal, reducing the emotional impact of difficult memories so they no longer feel as overwhelming in everyday life.
Unlike some forms of therapy, EMDR does not require you to talk in detail about every aspect of a traumatic experience. Working at a pace that feels safe and comfortable, your therapist will guide you through a structured process using bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, tapping or alternating sounds, to help the brain reprocess difficult memories.
EMDR can be effective for a wide range of concerns, including trauma, post-traumatic stress (PTSD), anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, grief and bereavement, low self-esteem, adverse childhood experiences, relationship difficulties and other distressing life events.
At Thame Valley Therapy Clinic, we provide EMDR Therapy within a safe, compassionate and supportive environment. Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual, ensuring therapy progresses at a pace that feels right for you. Our aim is to help you process difficult experiences, build resilience and move forward with greater confidence, emotional wellbeing and hope.
