Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy (AutPlay® Therapy)
At Thame Valley Therapy Clinic, we embrace and celebrate neurodiversity. We recognise that every individual experiences, learns and interacts with the world in their own unique way. As a neurodiversity-affirming practice, our goal is never to change who a person is, but to understand, support and empower them to thrive as their authentic self.
We offer AutPlay® Therapy, an evidence-informed, neurodiversity-affirming approach designed to support autistic children and young people, those with ADHD, learning differences and other neurodivergent identities. AutPlay® integrates play therapy, behavioural, developmental and relationship-based approaches to meet each child where they are, recognising and building upon their unique strengths.
Sessions are tailored to the individual and may include play, creative activities, sensory experiences and therapeutic games to help develop emotional regulation, social understanding, self-awareness, communication, executive functioning and resilience—all within a safe, accepting and supportive environment.
We also work collaboratively with parents, carers and schools, helping those around the child to better understand their needs, reduce demands that may cause distress and create environments where they feel understood, accepted and able to flourish.
Our approach celebrates differences, honours each person's identity and focuses on building confidence, connection and wellbeing, enabling neurodivergent children and young people to thrive without compromising who they are.
