Family Therapy – Adoption & Special Guardianship Support
We are proud to currently work in partnership with Wokingham Borough Council, Bracknell Forest Council and a number of other local authorities, providing specialist therapeutic support for adoptive families, Special Guardianship families and children with complex emotional and developmental needs. Working collaboratively with families, social care teams, schools and other professionals, we provide joined-up, child-centred support that meets the unique needs of every family.
Every family's journey is unique, and adoptive families and those supported through Special Guardianship Orders (SGOs) may experience challenges that require specialist understanding and therapeutic support. We provide a safe, compassionate and trauma-informed space where children, parents and carers can strengthen relationships, deepen understanding and navigate challenges together.
Our work recognises the lasting impact that early experiences, trauma, loss and disrupted attachments can have on a child's emotional wellbeing and development. Through a neurodiversity-affirming and attachment-informed approach, we help families make sense of behaviours, recognising that behaviour is often a form of communication reflecting an underlying need or experience.
Therapeutic support may include strengthening attachment, improving communication, supporting emotional regulation, processing life experiences, managing transitions, building resilience and helping family members develop a deeper understanding of one another. We work collaboratively with children, parents and carers, tailoring support to the unique needs and strengths of every family.
Our aim is to help families build secure, trusting relationships where every member feels understood, connected and supported, creating a foundation for children and young people to heal, grow and thrive.
